The age-old charm of the South Seas, You know it when you find it – a place which somehow captures the light of a sailor’s lantern, the smell of sea-spray and the gleam of pearls on sun-kissed skin.
You know it when you come to The Waterline Beach Bar and Grill – as the comments in our guest book attest. Out of all the restaurants rarotonga has to offer, people remember forever the look and feel of a place created by a man who loves boats and wood, telling stories and making music. They remember the old glass buoys, the hand-carved wooden tables, the salt and pepper carefully laid out every night in shining mother-of-pearl shells.
They remember the romance of sitting so close to the waves, toes in the sand or on the deck under the soft lighting of a kerosene lamp.
And they remember, of course, the food. Simple, but with finesse. Served with true South Seas warmth and hospitality. “Honestly the best dinner we’ve ever had,” wrote one guest. “This is truly a special place.” We think so, too.
At Waterline, we’re big on detail. We’re boutique, rather than big. We do intimacy, not numbers. And we love to make memories – a boutique wedding, a beer in the sunset, or simply the best meal of your island holiday. We’re Chris and Akisi, owners and operators. After decades in The Cook Island Restaurants business, this is the one we dreamed about creating.
We look forward to hosting you.
